Turkuaz’s Mikey Carubba To Host March Funk Sessions With Members Of Motet, Thievery Corporation, RAQ, And More

first_imgAfter a soulful performance from host Shira Elias (Turkuaz) for the February edition of The Funk Sessions residency last night (and free pizza!), we’re excited to announce that her Turkuaz bandmate and drummer Michelangelo Carubba will be taking over hosting duties for the March edition of The Funk Sessions on Tuesday, March 26th at Cervantes’ Other Side in Denver, CO (purchase tickets here).Carubba has rounded out his lineup for The Funk Sessions with keyboardist Todd Stoops (RAQ), percussionist Jeff Franca (Thievery Corporation/Congo Sanchez), bassist Garrett Sayers (The Motet), guitarist Ryan Jalbert (The Motet), singer Lyle Divinsky (The Motet), saxophonist Nicholas Gerlach aka “Mr. Invoice” (Michal Menert & The Pretty Fantastics), and trumpet player Gabriel Mervine (formerly of The Motet).Ever the true showman, Carubba is no stranger to hosting duties. The drummer has put together several multi-band collaborations over the last several years with plenty of success, from tributes to Alanis Morissette and Tom Petty to his always memorable annual all-star birthday bash. With Turkuaz’s very own Keeper of Time behind the kit for these Sessions, there will be plenty of get-down fuel within the walls of the Other Side.Tickets for The Funk Sessions are currently on-sale and can be purchased here. See below for full event information, along with video from last night’s performance with Shira Elias, Borahm Lee (Break Science/Pretty Lights Live), Jeremy Salken (Big Gigantic), DJ Williams (Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe / Shots Fired), Dan Africano (John Brown’s Body), and Parris Fleming (The Motet).Live For Live Music Presents: The Funk Sessions hosted by Shira Elias – February 2019– SHOW INFO –Date: Tuesday, March 26th, 2019Artist/s: Michelangelo Carubba (Turkuaz), Todd Stoops (RAQ), Jeff Franca (Thievery Corporation/Congo Sanchez), Garrett Sayers (The Motet), Ryan Jalbert (The Motet), Lyle Divinsky (The Motet), Nicholas Gerlach (Michal Menert & The Pretty Fantastics), Gabriel MervineVenue: Cervantes’ Other Side – 2637 Welston Street – Denver, CO 80205Doors: 7pm / Show: 8pmTICKETS: $15 Advance / $20 Day Of Show[artwork courtesy of Chris Bertetta @ Oddline Design Co.]last_img
