21 Oct 2014 England trio in Astor Trophy team Three England internationals have been selected for the GB&I team which will defend the Astor Trophy in Australia in January. They are Hayley Davis (Ferndown, Image © Leaderboard Photography), Bronte Law (Bramhall) and Charlotte Thomas (Singapore). The team is completed by Connie Jeffrey of Scotland and Leona Maguire of Ireland and will be captained by Elaine Farquharson-Black. Together they will take on the top amateur players from Australia, Canada, New Zealand and South Africa at the Grange, Adelaide, from January 12 to 16, 2015 for the Astor Trophy, formerly the Commonwealth Tournament. The event is held every four years and GB&I are the reigning champions, having claimed victory in 2011 at Fairhaven Golf Club, Lancashire. The team members will also have the opportunity to play in the Australian Amateur Championship which will be played at The Australian Golf Club and The Lakes Golf Club in Sydney in the week following the Astor Trophy from 20-25 January. Hayley Davis, 21, is the English stroke play champion and Bronte Law, 19, is the English women’s amateur champion. All three English players have previously represented GB&I and both Bronte and Charlotte Thomas, 21, are Curtis Cup players. All three are students at university in America and all have won there, with Hayley and Bronte recording their latest victories within the last week.
