A Vancouver man is accused of imprisoning and raping a woman he knew inside a room at a Hazel Dell motel Friday and Saturday.Greycloud Lawler, 34, allegedly strangled the 28-year-old woman several times during her captivity and slept against the door of the room with a hunting knife in his hand to prevent her from escaping. The incident occurred at the Value Motel, 708 N.E. 78th St.Lawler appeared Tuesday in Clark County Superior Court on suspicion of first-degree kidnapping domestic violence, first-degree rape domestic violence and second-degree assault domestic violence.He is scheduled to be arraigned on the charges Friday.Judge John Nichols held Lawler on $150,000 bail and appointedVancouver attorney Bob Yoseph to defend him.Clark County sheriff’s deputies responded at 1 p.m. Saturday to a report of an assault at the motel.The woman told police that Lawler became violent during an argument and strangled her until she passed out, according to a court affidavit. When she woke up, Lawler allegedly kept her in the room against her will and told her that if she screamed, he would kill her, the affidavit says. In the morning, he ripped off her clothes and raped her while she kicked him and scratched at his face, the affidavit says.Sheriff’s deputies took Lawler into custody. He had scratches on his face and had a large hunting knife, the affidavit says.
